- 3.What is Teflon coating?
Teflon coating (PTFE) or Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene is a type of polymer that is resistant to high temperatures and does not react chemically to acids and bases. It is insoluble in various solvents and also chemically neutral in general and physically non-adhesive which makes an ideal coating.
Teflon brand is one of the types of PTFE and among people (mainly in Iran) PTFE coating is known as Teflon.
- 4.What are the characteristics of non-stick Teflon coating?
Less consumption of oil in cooking.
Easy stirring in cooking.
No scorching.
Ease of detaching the scorched rice from the bottom of the dish.
Very easy to wash.
- 5.Do Teflon coatings get scrubbed easily?
Today, Teflon coatings are produced with advanced technologies and their abrasion and scratching resistance have increased significantly with changes in chemical formulas and resistive additives, and at the same time, their non-stick properties have also improved significantly.
- 6.If Teflon coating is scratched, is the container unusable?
Although scratching changed the appearance of Teflon, it has no significant effect on its function and the dish will remain non-stick.
- 7.What if a piece of Teflon coating is pulled out and swallowed?
Teflon coatings manufactured by all leading companies in the world are manufactured in accordance with the strict standards of the FDA (US Health Organization) and are under its constant supervision. These coatings are made of neutral and non-toxic materials and do not cause any harm to the human body. They have no danger for human health.
- 8.Can metal tools be used while using the dishes with anti-abrasion and anti-scratch coating?
Even though today's technology has succeeded in producing anti-scratch Teflon coatings, it is still recommended to use wooden or plastic tools to stir food. Because even the best coatings are vulnerable to metal objects.
Cutting food in a frying pan with a cooking knife is another mistake made mainly by consumers.
- 9.Can Teflon containers be washed with a dishwasher?
Using standard detergents, you can easily wash the Teflon dish in the dishwasher, but if the detergent is counterfeit or of poor quality, the Teflon coating will be damaged. Due to the limited access to these detergents in Iran, which are often very expensive, it is recommended not to use the dishwasher.
- 10.Are Teflon containers pathogenic?
One of the chemical compounds in Teflon, or PTFE, is a type of acid called PFOA, which in the past remained low-scale in the production process of Teflon as a by-product in the main compound. Currently, well-known Teflon manufacturers with the help of modern technologies have succeeded in changing the consumables and completely eliminating this compound. Candid also uses Teflon PFOA FREE, which is free of this substance.
However, the PFOA also disappears completely after spraying and baking the aluminum parts covered in the curing oven. It evaporates completely at a temperature of 260 degrees Celsius in a fraction of a second, and since Teflon coating must be baked for 4 minutes at 420 degrees Celsius to achieve proper cooking strength, there will remain no effects of it in the final product. So, even in the past, PFOA did not pose a risk to consumers.
- 11.What is ceramic coating ??
According to studies, these coatings are based on Gel Sol technology and are produced using silicon oxide (called silica or SiO2), which is free of toxic chemicals, and also compared to Teflon materials, they emit less greenhouse gases during processing and production. Silica is actually the substance that makes up rock and sand and is found naturally. High melting and hardness and brittleness are of their characteristics.
Today, with the advent of nanotechnology, it is possible to cover aluminum and other metals with thin ceramic layers. The main purpose of developing these coatings was firstly to insulate the surface of space shuttles and create antibacterial and environmentally friendly coatings used in sanitary facilities such as hospitals, and this technology is now used in the production of cooking utensils and many other products used in home.
The production of kitchen utensils with ceramic coatings requires advanced and precise equipment and technology, which is the difference between the quality of different ceramic dishes.
- 12.What are the characteristics of ceramic coatings?
:Extremely non-sticky, especially in the first months
Non-stick ceramic coatings are superior to Teflon coatings in the early months. The non-stick property of these coatings is due to the presence of a special additive and decreases over time. However, proper use and maintenance and following the manufacturer's recommendations, which will be discussed below, will reduce the decreasing rate of this property and ensure its efficiency for a longer period of time.
Glossy surface:
Due to their nature, these coatings have glossy and glassy surface. Also, these coatings are produced in a wide range of color
Stain resistance:
Ceramic coatings even in white color have high stain resistance. However, Teflon coatings in light colors are less resistant to stains than the ceramic coatings.
High abrasion resistance:
Ceramic systems have extremely high abrasion resistance compared to Teflon coatings.
Basically, the more abrasion resistant a material is, the more fragile it is. Therefore, one of the weaknesses of these coatings is their fragility. As a result, the ceramic layer on the container should not be hit hard.
Other features of these materials include:
1- Very high chemical resistance
4- Ability to return to the environment and causing no damage to nature
- 13.What is the difference between ceramic and Teflon?
In a brief comparison between ceramic coating and Teflon, the following points can be mentioned:
1 - In terms of health: According to the latest research, dishes with Teflon or ceramic coating cause no harm to human health and their qualified types are approved by international and domestic institutions.
2 - In terms of durability and non-stickiness: Ceramic coating has a very high resistance to corrosion and abrasion, but Teflon coating has a very high non-stickiness. (Teflon coating retains its non-stick properties for a lifetime, but ceramic coatings, although are initially less sticky than Teflon coatings, their non-stickiness decreases over time, however cooking with them is still enjoyable.)
3 - In terms of energy consumption: The processing temperature of these materials is between 280 to 300 degrees Celsius and lower than the processing temperature of Teflon coating (420 degrees Celsius), which reduces energy consumption and production of greenhouse gases during the production process of dishes, and it is one of the reasons for being called (green cover).
- 14.What is granite coating?
Unlike some of the lucrative traders claim granite coatings are not made of igneous rock, which consists of fire lava. This is an advertising ploy by which they can sell these products at exorbitant prices. The color variety and similarity of these dishes to granite, as well as the strength of these coatings compared to other types of coatings, have led to the name of granite or marble being assigned to these products.
These coatings are in fact the same non-stick coatings but with higher strength, which are sprayed in color in 4 or 5 layers on the surface of die-cast aluminum containers and show high chemical resistance and physical properties.
- 15.What is bio-granite coating?
Bio-granite coatings, which are part of the company's products under this name, are from the group of advanced ceramic coatings, but in comparison with ceramic coatings, they have higher non-stick properties and more resistance, and in the form of 4 layers of coating on They are sprayed on the surface of the die-cast aluminum
- 16.What is the silicone coating on the outside of the dishes?
In the past, liquid and powder paints were used all over the world to produce dishes in different colors to cover the dishes and paint the outer surface. These coatings are now obsolete around the world for the following reasons
1- High capability of spotting
2- Blackening due to contact with the gas flame
3- Low resistance to heat
In Iran, due to the ease of supply of these materials and the low price and also easy way to cover the dishes with these materials, many manufacturers of these dishes continue to use these coatings. At present, all reputable foreign manufacturers use food grade silicone hygienic coatings instead of powder coatings to cover the outer surface of cooking utensils.
Fortunately, Candid brand, relying on the modern technology and with the help of experts, produces all its products in different colors by hygienic silicone coatings.
- 17.What is the seasoning of dishes before using Teflon and granite dishes?
It is recommended that Teflon and granite coatings be seasoned or prepared before use.
For seasoning, first rub a small amount of cooking oil on the surface of the dish and after a few minutes, wash the dish with a soft sponge with the help of detergent and then dry it.
If using a dishwasher (subject to the above conditions, of course), the seasoning operation should be performed from time to time. But if you don't use a dishwasher, you won't need to season again.
- 18.Do ceramic and bio-granite dishes also need any seasoning before use?
Ceramic and bio-granite dishes do not require seasoning operations.
- 19.What are the uses of containers equipped with induction steel insoles or so-called cast iron?
Currently, some products on the market are equipped with induction insoles and are sold at a higher price than products with insoles. These dishes do not work at all in our country because they only work in European countries and countries that use electric stoves for cooking. Therefore, these imported products are not recommended for using in gas stoves and there is no need to spend more to buy these products. By the way, these insoles do not act as flame spreaders at all.
- 20.How to have more durable containers?
In order to increase the lifespan of products with different coatings, it is of special importance to pay attention to the method of use and maintenance of dishes.
Read all safety tips completely and carefully before use
Depending on the type of coating, Candid has placed separate instructions for each of their products in their packing boxes.
- 21.What should be done to increase the shelf life and non-stick period of bio granite dishes?
Never place empty bio granite dishes on a gas flame.
The gas flame should be proportional to the size of the container and should be gentle and medium.
Do not give heat shock to these dishes. For example, do not take a hot dish under cold water at once.
Do not hit the surface of the bio granite coating with a spoon and cooking utensils.
Do not place bio granite dishes in the dishwasher.
Do not use strong chlorine-containing detergents.
If the food is stale, do not use dishwashing wire to clean it, just put it in water and foam for a while and then clean it with a sponge.
Always make sure the container is clean and dry before placing it in the cabinet.
